If mermaids were based on manatees, then a mermaid would be a woman of Rubanesque proportions, wouldn't she? So the whole whale v mermaid thing wouldn't equate to fat v thin anyway.

It appears to be gone, now, but you can still see some of the pictures if you Google "horny manatee".
