He didn't say the first sentence, but I hope (probably to no avail) that no one takes that to mean that MLK did, in fact, rejoice in the deaths of his "enemies," assuming he thought of anyone as his "enemy." I'm pretty sure if Lester Maddox or George Wallace, for example, had pre-deceased him, MLK would not have celebrated.
