Rumors run rampant

Snopes.com began as a fun venture to explore the origins of “urban legends” and later developed into a trusted site for checking out rumors on all kinds of subjects, including politics.

If it helps to have some clues about factually-challenged e-mails, I think I have spotted some similarities. They usually contain dire messages like “Wake Up, America!” They almost always suggest that we should be “outraged.” I suspect people who make such suggestions are more interested in our becoming angry than whether we are properly informed.
