Cross untouched by California fire

Comment: GENE BLEVINS, of the LA Daily NEWS took photos of a fire in Calif that SURELY was going to burn down this cross, but next day, the cross stood as if nothing had happened. I think it is a photo taken in the winter, not a photo taken after the fire. And the photo that SEEMS like the cross will surely burn down shows flames that just APPEAR to be at the BASE of the cross but actually are NOT. ??? The last photo shows the cross is on a BARE rocky hill, and the flames may not have EVEN come close to the cross as it APPEARS.

Comment: I wonder why these pictures were not sent out over the news channels? “Even the fire fighters that were near the cross as it was surrounded with flames said it was going to be destroyed….the next day Gene Blevins/ photographer went back to the scene to get some more shots and saw that the cross was not even touched, not even scorched from the heat...”

There's a clear message here, if all houses are shaped like crosses then fire doesn't affect them!

Well, Gene Blevins is a photographer for the LA Daily News, and these pics are on their website. They are from the "Station" Fire back in August of this year as the fire spread through Big Tujunga Canyon.

Can't find anything about the cross itself - where it is, who put it there. It seems to be made of metal, maybe that's why it didn't burn?

Similar story from the Freeway Complex fire in Yorba Linda/Anaheim Hills last year - a cross on a hill overlooking the CA-91 freeway was left standing, although its lighting system was destroyed. That cross was made from old wooden telephone poles.
