"Cry Baby Lane," a Nickelodeon movie about conjoined twins who are sawed apart, was deemed so scary after its one airing in October 2000 that it was banned by the network, never to be seen again.
Or so the story goes. In fact, both the story in the movie and the story about the movie being banned are urban legends. TeenNick will air the movie on Monday, for the first time in more than a decade, as part of its "Stick-or-Treat" Halloween programing. http://news.yahoo.com/nickelodeon-ai...221131876.html |

I wish the film had remained forgotten in the vaults! As a twin I have a personal agenda in wishing people would just get over the 'evil twin' or 'creepy twins' cliché*, and as a bleeding heart liberal I squirm at the thought of a deformity being used as a cheap thrill.
*Yeah, we look alike. It's not that bloody freaky. |

Sounds like the movie was not so much too scarey as that it just plain sucked.

Though not a twin myself, I have a similar opinion on the "creepy twins" thing as Blatherskite (and I agree with her concern over the conjoinedness being a cheap thrill).
That being said, I kind of want to see this a little bit anyway. I love horror and I have very strong nostalgia for Nickelodeon. Throw in a little morbid curiosity and an appreciation for both Frank Langella and Jim Gaffigan. I don't have cable, and the date has passed anyway; does anyone know if this is viewable online? |
