Comment: An urban legend (or it may be scientific fact, I don't know) that
I've heard all my life (31+ years) is that if you eat anything just before going to bed, it all turns to fat. |

While not because of weight gain (can't find anything conclusive that proves you'll gain weight), it does activate the digestive system. http://www.webmd.com/solutions/sleeping-pills/sleeptips

I've heard the same. I've also read that this is how sumo wrestlers gain weight: eat lunch, then nap.
It doesn't all turn to fat, but I think the logic here is that a sleeping person doesn't use much energy, so calories that might be used for activity are converted into fat instead. |

The UL, as I recall, is that by eating just before you go to bed, you are more likely to wake up hungry, therefore validating the other one too.

I don't know about that; diet gurus have made that claim, other experts say it makes no difference, calories in add up the same regardless:
but since I've lost weight and quit eating very much in the evenings, my reflux is pretty much history. Yay. I think the weight loss is from just not eating as much, having nothing to do with when, and the reflux going away is both because of less weight and having nothing to back up at night, because at night was when I was having most of my problems. (which would be evident first thing in the morning) |

Well whenever I eat anything an hour or so before bed, I will wake up starving. Sometimes I even wake up in the middle of the night hungry.
