One of our family stories is how, back during the 1930s, my grandfather went hunting and shot a bear. He gave some of the meat to his employees, including my grandfather. Grandmother had never cooked bear in her life, but back during the depression you didn't say 'no' to free meat.

It was so horrible that nobody could eat it. Even the neighbor's DOG turned up his nose at it. They finally buried it in the backyard.
