Which vampires are we talking about? Sparkly ones? Broody ones? Snaggle-tooted ones?

What I've gathered from my multiple years of Vampire Research (AKA roleplaying) is that Vampires aren't affected by crosses per se, but by holy symbols, driven by faith. If the person brandishing the holy symbol has faith in that symbol, then it can be used to force the vampire back.

So a Star of David, the I-chin, a bough of Mistletoe or whatever, could all be effective vampire-hunter weapons. I guess if you really believe in the Invisible Pink Unicorn, you could point to it's non-presence and drive out the undead that way.

If you don't believe, you're attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis. I believe it was in the book 'Salem's Lot' that the priest faith held off the vampires for a bit, but as he lost hope (and faith, Goodbye Kelly Ripa and Faith Ford) he became vulnerable.

Anyhoo, long rant, forgive me.
