During a few of the latest power outages in Seattle, one of the complaints was that the power company's website was down (or at least the page which showed the outages).

People were not impressed.

Stupid question: Why are people so willing to put up with regular power outages? Is it because the alternative costs too much? We've been here more than 15 years and have never had a power outage more than 2-3 minutes. There was one just before we arrived, due to a winter hurricane.

When were in the northeastern part of the U.S. we lost power a few times every summer, and even a few times during the winter.
