Hemingway quote

I've seen the following quote floating around with a vague attribution to a Hemingway short story:

Quote:

To be able to say: I loved this person, we had a hell of a nice time together, itís over but in a way it will never be over and I do know that I for sure loved this person, to be able to say that and mean it, thatís rare, seŮor. Thatís rare and valuable.
Does anyone know if it's an actual quote or just an internet invention?

I don't think he was fond of run ons. ;)

I think this quote got attached to his name recently. Even though those books come up in a search for its parts, they aren't found inside.

It doesn't look like his style, does it?

The closest I came to a source was The Complete Short Stories, but the ebook copy I tracked down had no mention of the phrase.

I'm a big fan of Hemingway. I don't recognize that quote and the context doesn't fit with any book/story that comes to mind. Plus, as has been said, its not written in his style. Its odd that they would attribute it to the Complete Short Stories, but not to a particular Story.

I happen to own this book. Its 650 pages long which would be a good place to attribute a quote that wasn't real. I am having a look.

I found an online .pdf version of "The Complete Short Stories" and did a search for "rare" and "valuable." I found no quotes even remotely similar containing either word.

Edit: Doh, didn't see Bug Muldoon beat me to it.
