Tara Strong liked my costume so much she called me over out of Kevin Conroy's line so she could get a picture with me! We're looking at her phone !!!! in this picture.

I'd say I was jealous but I think I'll skip over the lighter sins and go right for invidia. (So inviddy?)

Damn clever way to get through two lines at once, though!

Wait, <I>she</I> wanted a picture with <I>you</I>? Well... uh... someone thanked me in a very popular Reddit item today! (I got nothin'.)

But seriously, I'm glad it went over so well! Tara Strong sounds like a class act.

My 6 year old daughter and I were shopping for boring old curtain fabric when she found a package of fat quarters in purple and pink that she had to have. She wanted to make costumes for her Ponies. Made me think of Aimee.

This is how it all starts. lol

Stephen Colbert gave a shout out to all his Bronies in the beginning of his 4/09/2012 show.

My wig didn't turn out quite the way I'd hoped (the blue isn't as mixed-in so it's mainly black), so I don't know how good my Twilight Sparkle costume is gonna look. :( If I hadn't had a clip-in "streak" custom made for it, and if I had more time to make some accessories, I'd just go with Luna instead...

On the plus side, the wig is gonna be pretty awesome for my Marceline outfit.

TallGeekyGirl 22 April 2012 06:23 PM

Yeah you know what? The non-fans are right... My Little Pony is just a silly, sugary-sweet little girls' show where nothing ever happens and it's all smiles and rainbows...

And one of the characters is a pony princess with a flowing mane who's only purpose is to be pretty and sell teasets and nothing ever goes wrong in her kingdom...

*sigh* I just don't know why I watch this pointless show...

The last ep was pretty damn good, but I gotta confess it was a little hard to take Twilight's 'big brother, best friend' song seriously when she's gone 2 full seasons without ever mentioning that she even had a brother. I was fully expecting the other ponies to comment on that.

I totally want an instrumental version of the 'this day was going to be perfect' song. That melody was flat out haunting.

That didn't bother me at all. I knew someone for over 15 years before I found out she had a sister she was on good terms with.

My problems with the episode were:

The use of "I could care less" in the villain song. ARGH CLARITY AND GRAMMAR.

The nature of the resolution. Not the whole power-of-love thing, but rather that Chrysalis didn't think it would work. "Lovely but absolutely ridiculous"? A creature that feeds off love and specifically said that Shining Armor's feelings had given her the power to take out Celestia suddenly decided that weaponized emotions were ridiculous? It was like watching Popeye saying spinach is "just a vegetable." I know the episode was running down but any other dismissive phrase would have worked better in that spot.

But overall it was great. The changelings were awesome, and I did tear up at the end. I even chuckled at the Every<S>body</S>pony Laughs ending.

rockland6674 29 April 2012 05:54 PM

Changeling fail.

I am trying to figure out what to make a Luna neckpiece out of...

I did a human version of Twilight Sparkle costume for a convention over the weekend, but my wig did not turn out the way I expected and the color was wrong, it was more black than I had thought it would be... Someone walking by said "Nice Luna costume!" It was supposed to be black/blue mixed which I know isn't 100% for Twilight Sparkle but I wanted to be able to use it for my Marceline costume also, so I could justify the expense.

I was actually thinking of doing Luna when I saw how the wig turned out, but I didn't have enough time to make the accessories, plus I already had custom hair streaks for Twilight Sparkle. I also realized my prom dress would be perfect for Luna, it's a dark blue with silver accents and a sheer black fabric over the skirt. I'd post a photo but I don't seem to have any online anymore.

So I was thinking of working on a Luna costume for next time (next time being whenever I have a chance to wear it, or next Acen) but I am trying to figure out what the heck to make her neck piece/symbol thing out of. Instead of making it I may possibly order some type of necklace from etsy if I can figure out what to call that piece/form or how to describe what I want.

Here is a photo of our little group at the photoshoot, sorry it's not a very good photo but I had to get a guy dressed as "Derpy" to take it so we could have all my friends in the photo :D

I don't know who the Dr Whooves is, he just happened to be standing there.
I put together Pinkie Pie's and my (Twilight Sparkle) outfit from stuff I found at a thrift store (except for the wigs) and I made Spike's outfit, well I bought the hoodie, but I made the spikes and stuff myself. It's hard to tell in the photo but the purple skirt I found was perfect, it had these colored sequins on it that fit well. I has been planning to do iron-on transfers of our cutie marks on our shirts, but my printer broke and my sister's laser printer was not able to handle the inkjet transfers.
