Comment: Just an email to thank you for a great site. I have used it for
years to point out to friends and family the error of their ways. I find
out the truth and then email the link to them. Sometimes they are so
embarrassed and won't respond or become defensive like my brother "I don't
read 'em I just send 'em". Since I have them trained now to check with
snopes when they get these odd emails it has cut down on my junk mail
tremendously. I think the proof of how many people use your site for
verification is when you get one of these silly emails and somewhere on it
someone has put
'this is true I checked it on snopes.com' as if that is the stamp of
authenticity! Keep up the great work.
PS Isn't it amazing what people will fall for just because
it is 'on the internet'!!

I HATE the viral emails that get folks fired up about things not true.
The debate in this country on just about everything even remotely
political is too tied up in fallacies. It was bad enough when I was
getting them from folks on the right. I got this one with an angry note
attached from a left-leaning friend. I was glad to be able to so quickly
set him straight and urged him to be sure to send your link on to everyone
he'd forwarded HIS message to and to whoever he got the message from.

a Mom & Pop organization, literaly. It all sarted as a hobby and now, a

it over and over. Just received the "flesh-eating bacteria from new
underwear from foreign countries so wash your bras ladies" e-mail,
complete with horrible pictures.

I was suspicious so checked. I always forward my Snopes results to the
sender, yet the same people keep sending the same types of things without
bothering to check themselves!
My theory is that seeing they are the same forwarders of the "pass this on
to 10 people and/or something good/bad will happen" e-mails, they suspect
that these may be false but think they had better pass them on, JUST IN
CASE!
(And one should wash new underwear before wearing anyway! :) )

especially well-done. Because Snopes.com posted that cards sent to Walter
Reed would NOT make it to any recipients, and because you included the
address of a program that WOULD accept such cards (Holiday Mail for
Heroes), many soldiers are receiving the thanks and warm wishes they
deserve, especially this time of year!

A good hearted coworker of mine sent an email to everyone in the office
asking for employees to send holiday cards to "Cards for Recovering
Soldiers" and after a quick fact-check at Snopes, I replied back to her to
let her know of your assessment. She sent out the info you supplied for
Holiday Mail for Heroes, so hopefully the cards will make it to the
correct address.
