Comment: Hi, Snopes person -

I cannot tell you how many times Snopes and sites like yours (such as
truthorfiction.com) have saved me from promulgating false or misleading
emails. When I receive something questionable, my first instinct is
usually to check its veracity. Some times I'll get caught up in the story
and start to pass it on (as I did today), but thank goodness my better
sense tells me to check it out before hitting "send."

Usually, I reply to the sender with a report of my findings and gently
suggest that they check out emails before mass mailing everyone on their
contacts list. As a result, one or two people have stopped sending me
emails altogether; however, I didn't really want all their right-wing, and
Obama-bashing email anyway. (I think one person stopped emailing me
because after checking Snopes I replied to "all" with a link to your page
pointing to the mixed results of your findings, and briefly re-stated the
most egregious bits.)

My small contribution to email sanity is like a drop of water in the
ocean, but as a former editor, I just cannot let unfounded claims go by
unnoticed. Please consider me a

Comment: Thank you so much for all the information provided and updated on
this website! I use this countless times when I get the inevitable
forwards, and now Facebook posts, with various scare tactics or scams.
Funny enough, no matter how many times I reply with a link to your
specific article, people still thank me so much for "educating" them about
the scam. I'm hoping more people will check here before forwarding these
fake items and unnecessarily scaring people. If they won't, I will. :)

this site extensively to show my friends that their rants against
President Obama are just simply unfounded. I often compare your answers
to other sites such as Truth or fiction and Fact Check and all are the
same thing. Thank You

mostly check everything before forwarding. You've saved me from passing
on junk many, many times! You do a great job! I just checked out an
e-mail about the volcano spotted in the ocean by someone on their yacht!
