Comment: I use your site all the time to educate people about not being
alarmist. Thank you so much for all of the time, effort, research, and legitimate sources you commit to keeping people informed and educated. |
Comment: I have used your site for many years now. Mostly, I use it to
debunk the DELUGE of "helpful" emails I get from caring friends. Today, when reading your "Nine Safety Tips" article, it dawned on me that I have never taken the time to thank you for all of this hard work you have put into this site. It is so easy to take the information sent from well-meaning friends and take it as law instead of doing some actual research. And as such, we could all be opening ourselves to greater harm. So, thank you, my beloved Snopes, for getting to the bottom of all the nonsense, and doing something to prompt us to THINK instead of just REACT in potentially harmful situations. I don't know if there is some kind of prize for excellence in your field, but if there is, please let me know and I will be more than happy to write a letter of recommendation for you! I hope this finds you well. Keep up the great work. And sincerely, thank you. |
Comment: I just wanted to thank you for such a reliable place to dissuade
rumors. Most times now, if I get an email of remotely questionable nature, I check its validity here and 9 times out of 10 you have information regarding the rumor and I post the webpage on a return reply to all my friends and family of the stuff they post. I doubt I'm making a big dent in stopping stupid chains from spreading, but I also think that your site and my replies are the reasons why my friends send them to me; to check it out. So I appreciate this site very much. I also enjoy all the urban legends and fun stuff to read too. Thanks! |
Comment: I just want to thank you, thank you, thank you for the service
you provide. You are critical to people separating fact from fiction. I'm constantly directing my friends and family to your site to show them that what they sent me was not true. You are extremely important to our democracy in this new land of viral, and often vicious, emails. |
Comment: I just wanted to send a thank you for your excellent articles. I
just found the one about Lincoln and Kennedy, the coincidences. You saved me a lot of work looking up the facts. Keep up the great work! |
Comment: I have enjoyed your site for years and think you are performing
such a wonderful service. I always wondered who was behing all this, but then I heard you interviewed on the radio and am glad you two got together. You sound like such nice people. And Barbara, you sign off with such clever names. |
Comment: I like you. I refer to your site all the time and forward your
articles to people who are ignorant and just like to pass on falsehoods. I don't know why these folks keep sending me false emails, but they do, and I keep coming to you for your good research. Thank you for being here. |
Comment: Hello. I love your website and I heard your great story on NPR.
I wish you the best success. I run a football pool hosting website and people often put me on their distribution lists by mistake. So I get TONS of these urban legend emails. I always look them up on snopes.com and reply back to the sender with the link showing their email is a myth. I love it! Thanks again for all you do. |
Comment: Hi,
Just want to say thanks for all the great work at Snopes.com. As a journalist, I really appreciate all the meticulous debunking (or, sometimes, bunking) on the site. |
Comment: Just a note expressing my thanks. I can't begin to count how many
times I've used your website to prevent people from believing both annoyingly dumb or perhaps dangerous myths. Just heard the two of you on an NPR podcast and thought I'd send a note of support from Canada. Yes, unfortunately, we no less gullible than the rest of the world. :) |
Comment: Hello,
Sending a belated Thank You for all the solid research and follow up to advance truth and dispel falsities. All to often we use available information without thinking of all those who make its availability possible. I've been online for about ten years now, and have used your site countless times as a reference to stop the scare tactic emails, scams, etc over many of those years. My father was an outdoor writer whose readers counted on for absolute accuracy. This was ingrained in his son. Thank you for the truth, to the best of your ability |
Comment: Hi, Snopes!
I recently attended a conference for student journalists. One of the speakers at the conference was running a workshop on fact-checking. She is the head fact-checker for Maclean's Magazine, Canada's premier news magazine. She actually cited snopes.com as one of her most highly recommended fact-checking websites. So there you guys have it. Canada depends on you. Congratulations. |
Comment: I recently heard the NPR story on how Snopes began and works.
You two are amazing. I can't tell you how many times I've turned to this site professionally and personally. I'm a librarian, so I really appreciate your dedication and thoroughness. It's nice to have this incredible, authoritative tool. Thank you so much! Live long and prosper. |
Comment: I just learned about you and it is great to know somebody is
looking out for us. |
Comment: I use your site to correct all my moron politically very left &
very right friends. Thanks for being there, you've made them think twice before sending me their garbage & half truths. Keep up the good work |
Comment: Thank you for the valuable service provided by your site. I have
used Snoops many times to refute messages sent or forwarded to me. Refute, only because not on a single occasion has a questionable message been legitimate. I always confront the senders and refer them to Snoops. I now get fewer weird messages or messages with the statement, " I haven't checked this out at Snoops." |
Comment: great place to try and sort out all the B.S. on the net. Thanks
|
Comment: I saw the article about you guys on NPR this month. I will
include my voice with tons of others I'm sure you have heard, that your work is a wonderful contribution to the internet. My husband and I have referenced your research and website SO many times when we get crazy weird emails from friends and acquaintances. Just today someone posted the "Proposed 28th Amendment" email on a chat board I visit. Our country's political atmosphere is so highly charged right now with mistrust, this rumor could REALLY do some unnecessary damage. So THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all the work you do! You make a difference, and a big one at that! |
Comment: Good stuff!
|
Comment: You do an excellent of providing us with accurate information, so
that I know which e-mails to ignore and delete. Have a great day Thank you for all your hard work. |
