Comment: LOVED hearing you on NPR this evening! I'm a great fan of the
site, and a personal fan of yours. Thank you for all of your very good work. You make the world a better place with your truthiness and your humor! |
Comment: I would like to thank you guys for a great service your doing...
I heard your radio interview in the car today ( I believe NPR ? ) and it just reminded me of all the times my uncle would send me some ridiculous e-mail that he would send to his 40 or so friends just perpetuating nonsense stories... I always use your site as a reference in my "Reply to all" on his list of friends... Thank you again for all the great work your doing... |
Comment: Just to say thank you guys and gals for maintaining this site. I
am a 55+yr old Aussie who regularly gets emails from my local and US friends and rellies and I frequently have to remind them to check your site. I encourage much older friends to also use the internet, and it is good to know that you are there should they also be worried about something. Keep up the good work... of course it's bitter sweet.... in a perfect work we would not need you at all! |
Comment: It was so lovely to hear your voices and your story on NPR
yesterday! We always use this site as a rational response to crazy and misleading emails we get. Sometimes we just use this site to peruse the "latest" urban legends for fun. Either way, THANK YOU for Snopes!! |
Comment: Dear Mikkelsons,
I heard the piece on Snopes.com on NPR yesterday. Today I was working on a book manuscript (I'm an editor at a small regional press), saw a reference to a bar that supposedly gave a free drink to members of AA who turned in a sobriety medal, Googled it, and found Barbara's eloquent corrective. I shoulda gone to Snopes first--you've helped me scores of times before. You are really terrific! You make a big difference! Thank you for your excellent work. |
Comment: Thanks very much for all that you do. How good for the internet
community. May money, accolades, and good karma! be with you, right along with high esteem. |
Comment: Thanks for your site. I've been using it for years to debunk the
emails people sent me. A link to the article on your website normally shuts them up. Good job on NPR this weekend as well. Keep up the good work. |
Comment: My daughter just linked me to the NPR interview with you, and I
thoroughly enjoyed listening to you in person! I have used your website for years to check out the "truth" (which usually turns out to be false!) of those annoying warnings, alerts, rumors, etc, that show up in my email. I'm always sending the link to your article to the person who sent me the rumor. It was really fun to see your picture and hear your voices. I just want to say a huge thank-you for your hard work, digging up the real story behind all these items. By the way, I have lived in France for 25 years now, and I teach adult English classes. This NPR article and radio interview will be used soon in one of my classes. I know they'll enjoy learning about you and your website. They get annoyed at the same problem over here! |
Comment: Heard your interview on NPR this morning and I just wanted to say
thank you for what you do! I really appreciate your service! |
Comment: I saw the article on NPR.com regarding the three of you (your
cat, too). WaHoo!!! Who would have guessed? Thank you very much for doing what you do. Keep it up. |
Comment: Thank you for all of your research and the detailed information
you provide to those of us who want a quick, accurate source to check some of the fantastic tales we receive via email. Keep up the good work! |
Comment: Hello. Just wanted to let you know that I have long been a fan
and user of your site. It's hard for me to understand why people will blindly accept any chain email sent there way. At any rate, whenever a friend forwards such emails to me, my first reaction is to check it out on your site. Often the emails are mostly wrong, and I provide your link about the emails to my friends (hoping to give them a resource they may not have heard of). Recently, I heard on NPR about how you got started and how hard you work to provide such a wonderful service. So, I wanted to take the time to say THANK YOU!!!!!! |
Comment: Hello. I wanted to take a moment and thank you for this web
site. It is one of my favorites; a trusted site any and every time I want to know the history, origin, or accuracy of a story. I feel the reporting here is more reliable than CNN, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, etc. put together! :) Thank you! |
Comment: Just can't thank you enough for your work.
Y'all rock, and I'm sure you don't hear it often enough. |
Comment: Re: http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/reid.asp
Barbara: I read this entry and smiled in gladness ... for you AND for me .. and for all the others ... that you have found such an important mission in life. You actually embody the term "information age." Thank you. This entry must have been particulary challenging to put together, and I appreciate all the work that went into it. Thank you. |
Comment: Mr. & Mrs. Snopes,
Heard you on NPR a couple days ago. EXCELLENT interview! Now I feel like I know you and want to take this opportunity to thank you for all you do for truth on the Internet. |
Comment: Just wanted to thank you for all the research and time you put
into this. It has been very informative and kept me from perpetuating lots of rumors. Thanks again. |
Comment: I just wanted to thank you all for the wonderful service you are
providing to all of us. I tell everyone I can to check out your site whenever they get something meant to be passed on to friends, etc. YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF THE WORK THAT YOU ARE DOING. THANK YOU! |
Comment: God bless you and your work. There's so much garbage circulating
via email and the internet; it's a huge relief to know that you're there helping us find truth. Thank you, thank you! |
Comment: Dear Barbara,
I just wanted to take a minute and tell you how very much I appreciate Snopes.com and all the research you do for us. I am inundated daily with emails that range from hair-raising to down right ridiculous. It never ceases to amaze me how many people have forwarded them along without any attempt to validate the content. I use your site daily to forward on the truth and encourage all to check it out for themselves before overburdening our mailbox with unconfirmed junk. Keep up the good work...I'd be lost without it!! |
