Of the several starbucks I have been to , I have only seen the coffee beans and the mugs for sale. Never equipment. However, I really do not frequent coffee shops.

Out of curiosity, you've really never heard of Tim Horton's? I've never lived in a place with one, but for some reason I know of the name.
You misunderstand. I have heard of Tim Horton's from this site, but not having ever been there, I don't know what their branches are like or what they sell outside of the typical stuff that I have seen for sale at you local
Starbucks. Since I have never really seen coffee makes sold there though I guess it does kinda make sense), it threw me off a bit.

Comment: I have a friend who worked in the restaurant / food preparation
business. He is a fairly smart fellow and has told me some interesting
stories about what goes in the kitchen, but sometimes the stories are a
little too unbelievable. One of those is that McDonald puts gravol in
their food. He says that the quantity is just below the limit to have to
declare it. I find that a little hard to believe. Do you have info on
whether or not it is true?

Comment: I had a co-worker who
formerly worked at White Castle (admittedly some 15-20 years ago) who
swore up and down that there were no onions in White Castle hamburgers,
that they soaked cabbage in onion soup or onion powder to provide the
"onion chips". A quick online search yielded a handful of people repeating
it as a rumor (Search terms of '"white castle" onion cabbage' yielded
about three links mentioning the rumor offhand) but nothing substantive.

The few things I've read about Gravol suggest it tastes absolutely vile. What benefit there would be to adding it to a food item is debateable.

McDonalds's food isn't the pinnacle of culinary achievement, but it's not so bad you need to add an anti-emetic to the recipe.

There are no onions in Birds's Eye Original Recipe Beefburgers either. So what? If you like a bit of onion you can add your own.

Right, but White Castle hamburgers are "steam-grilled" over onions, and reek of onion - the onion flavor is a defining characteristic of the product.

Onion is a good cover for substandard meat.

Comment: Does McDonalds use little plastic pieces to expand the meat prior
to cooking, but it melts away during the cooking process and since the FDA
lets a percentage of impurities through they allow this?

Comment: My daughter just asked me if I know that McDonald's puts nicotine
in their french fries to make them addictive. She of course asserted to me
that it was the gospel truth. A friend told her about it.

Ah, the garbage those fast food places get away with nowadays. It used to be that they added good old-fashioned heroin to their fries, but now they skimp and use mere nicotine. :p

Definitely not!!! I was a manager there for 2 years, and NEVER did we have that. They are frozen in a box, with all the patties stuck together. The only way to get them apart is to beat them on the grill before you cook them.

That's funny. Again, absolutely not. That would be completely illegal, and they would HAVE TO mention that one. They are 100% pure potatoes (with a hint of "natural flavor") fried in pure vegetable oil.

They try, but nothing they have tested has worked so far.

Yes, they use beef extract that makes them taste like they've been cooked in lard instead of the actual vegetable oil that they do use. If it tastes good and it's produced in mass quantities such as this, it tastes good because people have done a huge amount of research into what would make it taste good. This excerpt from Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation should help explain things.

Sonic has onion rings too.

Best onion rings ever- Popeyes.
Thats all I'm going to contribute. Hard to believe some of the questions out there about this.

It really amazes me how ignorant people are to the fact that horse meat is far more expensive than regular beef is. Honestly, Why would a fast food place serve expensive meat when few would notice or care?

Anyway, their official ingredients list for their RB sandwiches only list.. wait for it... Roast Beef. You can easily find more info in their nutrition portion of the site.

Comment: The other day, my friends asked me if I knew anybody who craves Mcdonalds
french fries When I replied "Yes", he told me that it is because Mcdonalds
puts very small amounts of Cocaine in their fries to hook eaters.

I have heard variants of this tale, such as the same thing happening at
Burger King.
