The Calendar

I got a notice via email that tomorrow is the first day of Bring Back The Crap Week. :D Thanks, Hambubba!

I assume that when you request a reminder for an event, that reminder goes out to everyone. Is there any way to add an event and make it send a reminder only to yourself? Or, if groups* are enabled, to send reminders only to a certain group?

*I'm not actually sure what Groups are. I just noticed that no one belongs to any, when I was reading their profiles.

Spam & Cookies-mmm 26 December 2006 06:24 PM

I may be wrong about the reminder. I don't remember requesting a reminder for the BBTC Week, but since I've clicked on everything I can just to see what it does, there's no telling what I've accidentally set up for myself.

Did anyone else get a reminder for BBTC Week?

Canuckistan 26 December 2006 06:28 PM

Only on the news.

In my clicking on everything, I set up today as Boxing Day in the calendar. Did you get a reminder for that?

Spam & Cookies-mmm 26 December 2006 06:37 PM

No I didn't. Do any of the events on your calendar show a clock next to them?

WildaBeast 26 December 2006 06:40 PM

Nope. I didn't any email reminders about Bring Back The Crap Week or anything else. Either hambubba set it up to send you the reminder, you somehow requested one, or the reminder went to my spam folder where I deleted it without noticing.

I'm going to add an event to the calendar to see if I can set it up to send reminders to other posters.

ETA: I think you must have requested a reminder, Spam. I didn't see any way to automatically remind other posters of something, but I clearly saw a link to reguest a reminder for an event.

Did you request the reminder, or did it just show up?

I had to request it. I haven't received any others, so it must be by request only.

Now, what do I wear?

What's the number that is next to the member's name in the Calendar?

Em 28 December 2006 03:57 AM

Their age?

ETA: I checked mine, and it was my age as of that day (my birthday). If you look at next March I'm already 31.

Mad Jay 28 December 2006 06:37 AM

Duh!!! You are right. The trouble is I keep forgetting I'm 31

Can someone please tell me is the calendar for our personal use or is it for the entire board use? I was not sure I thought I read in FAQ that it was just for personal use but can I get clarification on this please? Thanks!:) :D

DarkDan 29 December 2006 07:42 AM

It's for entire board use.

I initially left it wide open so the testers could try it and make sure it worked as expected. As of now, however, others should not be able to see entries you make in your calendar.

Check your profile. If you have it set to "hide age and birthday" or "hide birthday" then it won't show on the calendar.

Ah, that must be it then. Oh, well, this is where I choose privacy over celebration, I guess!

You can change your privacy settings at any time. You could always change it to viewable on or just before your birthday so people can see and celebrate.

I was bored so I figured out the average age of forum members using all the entries on the calender.

Assuming the 239 entries (when I went through it) are an accurate sample of the entire 596 members, then the average age of the snopesters is 33.

August 31st is also the day with the most birthdays on it.
