You just overthrew Capitalism meme

I've seen this on Twitter.

You just overthrew Capitalism. The 10th picture on your phone's camera roll is the basis for the new economy.

Mine must be a UEFI-based economy, since my 10th picture is a screen shot of the UEFI settings of a friend's laptop that I was working on.

ASL 29 May 2017 01:11 AM

I don't get it...

You open your phone and find the tenth picture in your camera roll. Whatever that picture is is the basis for the new economy you build after you (jokingly) have dismantled capitalism.

Mine is a historic farmhouse, hailing America's return to her agricultural, pre-industrial economy.

TallGeekyGirl 29 May 2017 01:25 AM

I should probably post the picture. UEFI is the replacement for BIOS in computer.

The joke is to imagine an economy based on whatever the picture is.

I dunno, maybe it's not as funny as I thought.

ASL 29 May 2017 02:31 AM

Well, it's either Little Creek Road at night or it's categories of distorted automatic thoughts, depending on the rules. I realized one picture between one and ten was an accidental shot of my hand and deleted it, thereby shifting the tenth photo.

I do like the idea of overthrowing capitalism with distorted automatic thoughts...

crocoduck_hunter 29 May 2017 04:00 AM

Well, 90% of the pictures on my phone are of kittens at the animal shelter where I volunteer...

GenYus234 29 May 2017 06:46 AM

So kitens are currency?

I haven't looked but since I just got back from Comicon, we probably have a Deadpool based economy.

Nope, co-ed Mary Poppins. Which I guess means the entire banking industry hinges on tuppence?

Biggles 29 May 2017 06:59 AM

Well this is interesting - A line of old TATA trucks on the docks in Chennai, India, delivering brand new Hyundai sedans for export.

So after capitalism we're going to have....capitalism?

Or bird seed.

chillas 29 May 2017 12:20 PM

According to my phone photo gallery, we will be establishing an economy based on iced tea. I'm not entirely sure how that works, but it's gotta be better than what we've got now...

ASL 29 May 2017 12:27 PM

Not necessarily. Look at all the hate and discontent over the East India Company's monopoly on tea circa 1773. Coincidentally referenced by Mr. Banks' employer in Mary Poppins, btw. And you think wars over oil are nasty...

That sounds to me like the invisible hand of the market, so you have indeed rejected capitalism!

I've apparently only ever taken two pictures using the camera on my phone, so I might have to use my real camera for the game.

Especially since the two photos on my phone are both of signs: One is a church sign I saw near here that says "BREXIT: Let Jesus be Sovereign", and the other is the "TRUMP CAROUSEL RULES AND REGULATIONS" from Central Park, NYC, which starts off "1. Everyone riding the carousel must pay"... Both of those are far too close to the way our actual economies are being run at the moment for comfort.

The tenth picture back on my real camera is the distorted reflection of the Shard, in London, in the glass of an office building on the other side of the river. Even that's a bit close for comfort what with the current economy of the UK apparently being based on grossly distorted property prices that are partly caused by prestigious high-rise developments in London aimed at investors from the far east, rather than at anybody who might end up living and working there.

I have a very stupid old phone that does not take pictures. So capitalism is apparently going to be replaced by nothing whatsoever. Maybe the world, or at least the human world, is going to end?

The tenth picture on the camera is several bunches of radishes. An economy based on local organic produce would be fine with me; though maybe a bit hard on people living in deserts.

Morning 29 May 2017 03:20 PM

The tenth picture on my phone is a shot of my blood pressure reading on a machine.

So.... blood is the new economy?

Morning
I vant to.... have a lower blood pressure.

smittykins 29 May 2017 03:57 PM

My tenth picture on my iPad is my phone(I was showing off my VW Bus wallpaper I got from Zedge).

So, in my fictional world, the currency is apparently LG G Vistas with VW Bus wallpapers.

Cervus 29 May 2017 03:57 PM

Mine will be a rabbit-based economy.

NobleHunter 29 May 2017 04:41 PM

Mine's based on duck eggs due to a well-timed picture of a flyer.

Ieuan ab Arthur 29 May 2017 04:46 PM

Peanuts

The tenth picture on my phone is a Mr. Peanut balloon floating by.

So I guess there's no change to the economy - it's still based on peanuts :fish:

Play-Doh spiders. Conveniently divisible, but more perishable than you might think.

WildaBeast 29 May 2017 06:38 PM

The tenth picture on my phone is a derelict old steam locomotive with some graffiti on it.

I take that as an indication that we will revert to steam powered machinery. It's going to be steampunk world!
