Homeopathic Products Now Have To Admit They Donít Work
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has released a policy statement explaining that from now on, all over-the-counter (OTC) homeopathic drugs will have to come with a label clearly stating that they do not work.

About time.

If this is just a policy of a group that's part of the executive branch, not a piece of legislation, couldn't it easily be undone if the department changes its mind? I'm curious because in a few months we're going to have a whole new executive branch that will be reversing a lot of current positions.

Don't think it will matter. A disclaimer like that won't deter most of the people who think homeopathy is the way to go. Distrust of science and the government seem to be de riguer.

Not necessarily the government per se, but they assume it's a tool of "big Pharma" and a medical industry that discourages alternative medicine not because it doesn't work, but because they don't make money off of it. Which is at least an understandable motivation, unlike the reasons put forth for climate change denial.

Of course, they completely ignore that "Big Pharma" actually is producing quite a bit of the "alternative" medicines available in the US because they can make quite a bit of money off it.

And also that the ones that aren't being made by "Big Pharma" are still being made for profit.

Big Pharma is one those phrases where I deduct points from the assumed IQ I believe someone to have. Because even though there are legitimate horrible stuff that the Pharmaceutical Industry has actually done, people who use the phrase "Big Pharma" tend to be about the "They're giving us Autism via flu shots!" nonsense, rather than, y'know, the massive price-gouging and all the skeeviness that led to the opioid epidemic.

I've heard that now everyone knows not to trust "Big Pharma", the damage is being done by "Alt Med". They peddle fake "cures" so that everyone gets sick and rushes back to "Big Pharma".

(I read this on Facebook or, more likely, just made it up).
