North Korea ends peace pacts with South

North Korea says it is scrapping all non-aggression pacts with South Korea, closing its hotline with Seoul and shutting their shared border point.

Earlier, Pyongyang said it reserved the right to a pre-emptive nuclear strike against its "aggressors".

Great, just what the world needs right now.

When I saw this article about ecological collapse in South Korea, I thought there might be an increase in tensions:

With little to feed its people and little of value to trade for sustenance, nuclear extortion might start to look like a valid and reasonable option.

I thought the Harlem Globetrotters just saved the world from North Korea. Did that not work, then?

Then again, I also thought Dennis Rodman was in the Harlem Globetrotters, so I'm probably wrong about everything anyway.

N. Korea figured that out years ago and has been playing that "game" quite successfully for years.

What, not a fan of predictable routines? It's nice to have a little stability in the form of threatened instability every now and then. Good old North Korea, you can always count on them!

Seriously, this is not exactly shocking when compared to their sinking a ROKN corvette and shelling a South Korean island in recent memory.

They already renounced the armistice in May 2009.

The threat to use nukes on the US and turn us into a "sea of fire" was also reported in the news as something brand new.

Quote:

Since the United States is about to ignite a nuclear war, we will be exercising our right to a preemptive nuclear attack against the headquarters of the aggressor, in order to protect our supreme interest.

While the wording may be new, the threats are old.

And, in a related story, Jamie Farr has started shopping for dresses again.

I had really kind of hoped that King-Jong Un would turn out to be a little less insane than his Dad.
